I’ve had the enormous honor to work with fashion designer, Jonathan Simkhai. It was the kind of opportunity that I’ve always dreamed of. Working alongside him and his creative director, Kittiya was very inspiring. I got a glimpse into their creative process and how their minds work when developing their ideas. It was so special to be a part of the development for their pre-fall 2024 collection.
Jonathan, Kittiya, and their videographer Polina, made the trip from West Hollywood, CA to my home studio in Maryland. I had excitedly awaited their arrival, carefully planning every detail of our time together. We planned ahead for some patterns and the set of colors that they would be using in the pre-fall collection.
Once they arrived we got to work and spent a full day marbling dozens of papers together. The best papers were later digitized and used as a basis to develop some of the textiles that were sewn into luxurious dresses for the collection.
