For the third year in a row, Soft Asylum is making the pilgrimage to the Catskills for Catskill Mountain Maker Camp. There are plenty of places to see makers, artists, and craftsmen at work, but Maker Camp is something different: a weekend built around community, fellowship, curiosity, and the shared joy of making things. People travel from across the country, and even from every continent, to spend these few days together at Blackthorne Resort in East Durham, New York. We’ve become pretty selective about the events we participate in, but Maker Camp is one we keep coming back to.

This year, we’re inviting you to get your hands into the process. We’ll be offering hands-on introductions to the art of fabric marbling, where you’ll learn to manipulate floating pigments on water and create your own pattern. At the end, you’ll walk away with a piece of fabric that you marbled yourself—a small, one-of-a-kind reminder of a weekend spent making, learning, and sharing with an extraordinary community of makers.
