Join us for this fun and unique marbling workshop! The earliest fore-edge painting or “vanishing paintings” date from the 16th century. Whether by accident or design, an artist (and presumably as well a book lover) figured out that when the pages of a book are fanned while being painted the result is a magic trick. When the book is closed, the fanned pages lose their stepped orientation, and the painting simply disappears. This trick has delighted many over the centuries, and now you have the opportunity to learn this technique from renowned master and instructor Melody Krafft whose work has been exhibited and acquired in the U.S. and abroad. She is adamant that with her system of fore-edge painting you do not need to be a good painter (or even a mediocre one!) to accomplish a solid and satisfying fore-edge painting.
